The following is excerpts of the interview
with well known sri vaishnava religious cult -"Ramanujapeetam"
spokes person in context with andhra kshatriyas especially kosuru
kshatriyas.
what
is meant by kshatriya? is it a varna / caste or profession ?
Nowadays,There is confusion between Varna, Jati and Caste. While the term varna
refers to the four broad different classes in society, the term jati refers to
the different specific endogamous sections of the Hindu Society which are known
as castes.
Varna
means " TRAITS" the human beings express inherently and
it actually represents the distinct qualities (guna) that the four
functional classes possess in their hearts and minds. The four different
qualities of human beings: satvic, rajasic, commercial and tamasic
attitudes.
We
know that the caste is decided by birth in our country.
initially
only four "VARNAS" were present named as -brahmin ,kshatriya,
vaishya and sudra .
in
turn the sudra varnna were categorised as different castes depending on their
daily profession or vocation . so ,the kshatriyas of INDIA belonged to
KSHATRIYA VARNA.
What
are the main branches of KSHATRIYA VARNA.
The
major branches of Kshatriya varna are Suryavanshi (solar line), claiming direct descent
from Ramachandra and descent from Surya, Chandravanshi (lunar line), claiming descent
from Chandra, Agnivanshi, claiming descent from Agni, and
the Nagavanshi, claiming
descent from the Nāgas.
Actually
the descend ency is based on whom they are worshiping, some
times the symbols of those deities adorned on their respective flags.
How
the kshatriyas formed and established themselves as kings or rulers of
the kingdoms in our country ?
Persons
who have taken initiation in leadership of the group of people or
habitats or regions developed in and as kings. The descendents of those
kings are called as kshatriyas , the ruling class. Thus leaders and their
heirs who have ruled the people evolved gradually as kshatriya varna. .
At
present, Kshatriya regiments make up a large portion of the Indian Armed forces
. Martial Races made up more than 10% of the population of British India as per
1891 census.. This percentage might have decreased over the years.
why
there are differences in kshatriyas in andhrapradesh?
Andhra
kshatriyas established themselves in almost entire seemandhra and
hyderabad region of A.P.
Brahmins
divided as niyogi and vaidika basing on their role in the society.
But
andhra kshatriyas loosing their role as rulers in our democratic governence,
are remained as multi professional class- agro,business,enterpreneurship,etc...
. so they have no professional division.
only
regional feelings and affluency played as the divising factor in andhra
kshatriyas. The naked truth is that only money and power are acting as
discriminating factors.
some authors with out any valid
authentication ,published their own research and concluded that andhra
kshatriyas have only 115 surnames ,which is absolutely half truth and
deficit of proper information.
Number
of surnames were forgotten to include in the list of andhra kshatriyas. (
readers and authors please note ).
what
are those house or surnames not included ?
chinda
,chinnamraju, dalapati, jagatap, mahali, borakat ,butte ,saandra ,gundrati.
People with these surnames are surya vamsa kshatriyas and belonged to
forward caste category and are residing in kosuru in divi taluk, movva
mandal of KRISHNA dt. Like all andhra kshatriyas ,the kosuru kshatriyas
migrated from north india along the river krishna and settled in krishna
coastal region.
we
can find few more surnames if the govt or any social organization do some
research.
some
kshatriyas are enrolled as backward caste (BC-D )category. how can it be
possible for kshatriyas once ruling class enrolled under BC-D?
In our country the
reservation system directing the communities with minority population and
economical backwardness enrolling themselves under BC category. Being
categorised under BC category doesn't mean that they are not kshatriyas. For
that matter ,kshatriyas of tamilnadu, karnataka (varnata) and some regions of
north india are enrolled under BC category. there are also few
kshatriyas in rayalaseema region under BC category.
How
the andhra kshatriyas evolved ?
Vayu
Purana, Buddhist and Jain literatures mention about migration of Ikshvakus
Kshatriyas to southern India.
"Raju's
traditional accounts claim descent from Ikshvaku,
Vishnukundina, Chalukya, Paricchedi and Kota Vamsa.

Basically
the kshatriyas migrated to south india from north india before christ and some
people after christ. They came from different regions of north india like,
madhya pradesh, rajasthan ,uttarpradesh and maharashtra. Before 14th century
A.D , andhra kshatriyas have no surnames or house names but identified
endogamously by the gotra names only. According to some manuscripts available
in tanjore saraswati libriory ,Andhra kshatriyas have only 5 gotras named
as- vashista , koundinya ,
dhananjaya , kasyapa and bharadwaaja. So
,basing on these 5 gotras, andhra kshatriyas identified themselves and
maintaining the relationship between these 5 gotras only.
The
Rajus of Karnataka and the neighbouring rayalaseema also have three
additional gotras:
Pasupati
, Vishwamitra , Atreya.
some
of the kshatriyas settled in ongole, nellore having gotra like "kasi' which
is twisted form of kashyapa gotra.
Each
Gotra is again sub-divided into hundreds of endogamous sects based on surnames
that are named after villages of origin, a famous member of the clan,
personality etc.
Rajus
of Andhra are designated as forward caste . Despite sizeable population of
Rajus being economically backward, Andhra Kshatriya Rajus never asked for
Reservation.

The Pallis or Vanniyas worked as serfs under Brahmin landlords while the Pallas and Paraiyas served the other non-Brahmin caste masters like the Vellalas. They were mostly landless people and were not allowed to own any property. They owned nothing but poverty, dirt and disease, sorrows and suffering and lived under perennial distress.

DeleteThanks for sharing information on 5 gothras including Bharadwaja but telugu speaking in andhra say only 4 gothras only they are not recognising Bharadwaj gotra. Could you further clarify about Bharadwaja gotra?
Hi sir... I want small information Plz give me... Agnikula kshatriyas..???? Which category??
DeletePasupati Gotra Kshatriyas are residing at Rayalaseema and Nellore Districts in Adhra Pradesh.... why all the people telling that pasupati gotra kshatriya's belong to Karnataka....?
ReplyDeleteRajus ( Telugu speaking Kshatriyas) have four gothras viz. Vashshta,Dhananjaya,Kashyapa and Kaundinya.
DeleteAll these gothras have Royal lineage.
Circar District and Kalingandhra district Rajus have 4 gothras only.
The Rajapalayam Rajus ( who migrated to southern Tamil Nadu 300/400 years back) also have the same surnames and gothras of these circar district Rajus, but 2-3 additional surnames within this four gothra fold alse seen here ).
Rajus ( i.e Telugu speaking Kshatriyas) of Nellore district and Rayalaseema ( they are seen mostly in Chittoor district and Rly. Koduru & Rajampeta of Kadapa YSR district ; Also seen in Tiruvallur, Tiruttani Taluks of Tamil Nadu) also have four gothras only viz. Vashishta, Dhananjaya,Kashyapa and Pashupathi.
This Pashupathi gothra could be Kaundinaysa gothrs.
The Kshayapa gotra is in short called as Kashi/Kasi gothra.
Surnames of Nellore district and rayalaseema Rajus are different from that of circar district Rajus, however all these are in this four gothra fold only. But some surnames like Sagiraju, Keerthipati, Konduru, Rudraraju, Gadiraju are common among the circar districst and Nellore/Rayalaseema Rajus ( Kshatriyas).
'Surname' plays important role in Telugus' culture. Surname and Gothra both are equally important. Because some surnames are common in all the castes and in some cases Gothras are also common.
But usually Gothra and Surname combination of a caste person need not be the same of other caste person.
thanks for the information. as per historical books,in good olden days, the pasupati gotra people were settled in large numbers in karnataka or varnata region. gradually some of them migrated to near by surrounding regions like nellore and rayalaseema.
ReplyDeleteBefore independence,to settle for good pastures, migration along the banks of rivers is very much common phenomenon...

DeleteIf rajus are having the gotras of saptarshi's . Why do most of the rajputs have gotras other than saptarshis. If raju's migrated from north. Why are physical features not matching to that of north. Just a doubt, but i still believe to some extent. As is is said that eastern chalukyas are from south and they have quarrels with rajputs of north.
ReplyDeleteI saw more percent of Agnikula Kshatriyas from krishna and north Andhra having very fair complexion and strongly built than any other kshatriya community. Their gothram also matches Ravikulam, which is the gotram of Raghuvamsham, people in this community tells that they are the successors of suryavamsham. They are very much voilent in nature and this is the community which still has arts with stick and sword till date. I saw more than 15% of the population in this caste are more fair(Red Haired), Very much red and many having brown eyes and brown hair. But the same caste population down from guntur district to nellore are not that fair. It looks like Actual Ikshvaku's are Agnikula Kshatriya's who mixed with pallavas who are dark down south.
It is confusing to see Agnikula Kshatriya Surnames matching exactly with some of the surnames of Rajputs : Shika(Andhra) : Shikawat(North), Peda Singh(Andhra): Singh, Sangani(Andhra): Sangani(Gujrat),Singati(Andhra): Singadi, Moka(Andhra): Mokawat(Rajasthan). Peeta(Andhra): Peetalwat(Rajasthan). Balagam(Andhra) : Balawat(Rajasthan). Interestingly the people with these matching surnames are north indian fair and the people with the other surnames which are close to telugu pronunciations are very dark. It is true that some of the population of palli south andhra coast and vada balija mixed because of profession. The gotra of Agnikulas is only Raghuvamsham, Ravikulam and Kaushal(From Kush, rama's son). In some areas Agnikula's and Verma Rajus are marrying saying that they are same. It is bit confusing. In My area Some of the Agnikula Kshatriyas are looking Like Heavily built and fair Punjabi's and Sikhs. How is this breed possible in Andhra.
I got really shocked to see these people. Our Andhra dont have that complexion even in bramhan community on an average.
I need information, if you have details.
Andhra Agnikula kshatriyas are migrated from Rajasthan and mixed with dark Pallavas.

In short Kashyapa ( or Kasyapa) gothra is know/called as ' Kasi or Kasya ' gothra.
'Surname' plays important role in Telugus' culture. Surname and Gothra both are equally important. Because some surnames are common in all the castes and in some cases Gothras are also common.
But usually Gothra and Surname combination of a caste person need not be the same of other caste person.
Suryavamsa kshatryias belong to forward caste only....in AndhraPradesh, Tamilnadu and karnataka ,even in india
ReplyDeleteNo brother..
DeleteThey were also in BC catagery in all south indian states as per economical backwardnes ... some are in ST also..
suryavamsa kshatriyas are oc and some are bc
DeleteRaju's are Backward caste in telangana. All kshatriya's are OCs before and later the government gave them BC based on their educational backgrounds. Suryavamshi's and agniula Kshatriyas are OC before NTR govt, they were merged to BC as there are not many graduates in these communities. Like how chouduries and rajus are B.C s in tamilnadu and orissa.
DeleteI dont know how you think all the Ksathriyas belongs to forward class?
ReplyDeleteThe term forward class, Backward class defined in base of the Economic
status of that community people.
For: Example Gurjar belongs to Agni kula ksathriya,
now they asked the government to made the caste to ST.
we cant say Gurjar ppls are not Ksathriyas.
Agnikula ksathriya ppls are in Andhrapradesh,Rajastan,Karnataka,Tamilnadu,Orissa,Pondichery...
Agnikula ksathriya peoples are refered as
Rajputs , Solanki - Rajastan
Gurjar - Gujarat
Vanniyakula ksatriyas,
Agnikula Ksatriyas - Tamilnadu
Tigala kula ksathriyas
Sambukula Kastriyas - Karnataka
Vanniyakula ksatriyas
Agnikulaksatriyas - Pondichery
Indrakula ksatriyas
Sooriyakula ksatriyas - Orissa
Agnikulaksatriyas - Andhra Pradesh
And they having titles(Awards) based on the Bravery .....
The Pallavas people belongs to Agnikulaksatriyas like the same The Cheras of Tamilnadu also belongs to Agnikulaksathriyas who used Bow as there symbol. Cholas mentioned them as Sooriyakula or Ragukula ksathriyas ... The Truth this Cholas and Pallavas having Good Marital relationship after Hiranya varman who belongs to Agnikula ksathriya, Chola dynasty was rulled by Agnikula ksatriyas after Rajendra Chola dynasty was rulled by Chalukyas (The chalukyas was replaced by Pallavas by Narashima varma, Pallavas alliance rulled in the name of Chalukyas ) More over the South Indian dynasty was Rulled by Agnikula ksatriyas ppls.
DeletePallavas have recorded them as bhramha khystrias and bharthwaj gothra can you show were they called themselves as Agnikula, Cholas belong to solar race and they are not Agnikula by the way don't write wrong stories here, do you belong to Vanniya or Palli caste of TN because they are writting false history for centuries,

ReplyDeletelooking for some information about kshatriyas settled in and around Tamilnadu and Chennai. They don't have surnames and having gothras of Kasyapasa and Athreya. They say their mother tongue is telugu but they speak Tamil mostly. Are they Suryavamsis? What is their origin and where they belongs to?
ReplyDeleteCurrent days social status of a caste will not decide the kshatriya status. Ony Gotra will decide. Many kshatriya kings/kingdoms lost their battles and became poor. If king looses a battle in the olden days, he has to leave all the Money, lands and everything he has to the enemy and leave to forests. That doesnt mean that they are not kings and kshatriyas. In a similar current day governments. If congress wins the elections and follows the same old rules and takes away all the mobey and properties from opposition govt, every one in that lost govt will become poor. If there was facility of saving black money in the past, every kshatriya/Rajput would have been a VIP today. Which ever communities are close to the places where cities developed in the modern world, populations belong to that region became rich. If we take vijawawada, all the population who were around vijayawada were farmers around 25 years back, when the city developed, farmers became rich and we are seeing their generations as rich and nothing more than that. Same thing with HYD too or any other city. Once day in the future every caste will have reservation. This will solve the actual problem. Every Forward caste is a Backward caste in one or the other state.
ReplyDeleteyes your absolutely right brother...
DeleteWho are the real kshatriyas of tamilnadu??????
ReplyDeletevanniyakula kshatriyas or agnikula kshatriyas are the kshatriyas of tamilnadu.they belongs to surya vamsam and raghukula or ravukula gothram.
Deletedear sir, we need your organisation name address and contact no
DeleteHi, Agnikula Kshatriyas are pallavas who's population was split into Andhra and tamilnadu after the bifurcation of madras constituency, like current day reddys split to telangana and and how they became weak population in both the states being strong earlier. Because agnikula Kshatriyas are not native to tamilnadu they lost the grip in tamilnadu and were least supported. having less/half population they could not get any political control in Andhra. Less population means less political opportunity as there will be less vote bank, less political opportunity means your leader will not give you business contracts and hence having people with more richness will be less. etc. Currently in many places, rajus and agnikula Kshatriyas are getting united based on Kshatriya.

Ila belongs to Suryavamsa mrried by Budha son of Chandra (chandra vamsi.) Then both are merged. Now showing deference is meaningless. Agnikula kshatriyas are mosly in the fishing profession. But by wearing the kshtriya in the cast name they became kshatriyas. most likely vanniyakula kshatriyas in thamilnad. Mudhirajas in Telangana & Mutharacha in Andhra & Mutharasar are claiming as the decendents of Yayaathi Chakravarthi who belongs to Chandra vamsa. Are they Kshatriyas ?
ReplyDeleteMr.prasad anumula ji first try to read Hindu scriptures properly and you are saying 'Agnikula kshatriyas are mosly in the fishing profession. ReplyDeleteAndhra Pradesh AGNIKULA KSHATRIYAS(VANNIYAR) are pure SURYAVASHI IKSHWAKU MAHARAJAS of RAGHUKULA GOTHRA(BAGVAN SREE RAM GOTHRA) and RAVIKULA GOTHRA. some legend says these pure suryavashi kshatriyas(Raghukula gothra, Ravikula gothra) are blessed by Agnidev, so these kshatriyas are known as AGNIVANSHI KSHATRIYAS or AGNIKULA KSHATRIYAS. these AGNIKULA KSHATRIYAS are migrated from PALI,Rajasthan and mixed with PALLAVA DYNASITY. after the fall of pallava dynasty these AGNIKULAS settled in andhra costal plains........and financial condition forced them to acquire fishing as their occupation.[brathukutheruvuki matsyakara vruthi chepattaru kramena andhulo kurukupoyaru].....and finally again these AGNIKULA KSHATRIYAS are Rising in Power NOW.

DeleteAccording to hindu vedic varnas are classified as
1.Brahmin
2.Vysya.
3.Kshatriya
4.Sudra
5. pancha varnas
I think kamma and kapu reddy are evolved from sudra varna..
kamma and reddy are ruling the state now...so called kshatriyas don't have anything in the state to do... they hold no power now...kshatriya are no longer rulers...kammas and reddy have been rich n they are rulers now
ReplyDeleteAs per history kammas ans reddy used to engage wars for kshatriyas...as a token of gratitude kshatriyas gave control of lands to kammas ...when kings lost kingdoms and king system was abolished...lands were under the captive of kammas reddys and other warriors...they eventually became rich due to land power...but kammas and reddys helped kshatriyas in fabricating Andhra...once pratapa rudra was dead...reddys saved the state frommgoals

DeleteThe "Thuraiyur Zamindar" (Trichy District of Tamil Nadu), who hails from "Telugu Reddiyar" community ruled that area from 16th century onwards. In one of the Tamil Inscription (1576 A.D) they (Reddiyar) referred them as "Siddhabala Gotram" (Fourth Class, (i.e) Sudras). So, the elite section of the "Telugu Reddiyar" referred them as "Fourth Class" only. Moreover, in the Madurai surrounding areas, there are "Konda Reddies", they are mentioned as low caste in the copper plates.

ReplyDeleteThe marriage relationship (Not all only few) between the Great Vanniya Kula Kshatriyas and the Great Imperial Cholas (Kshatriyas) is appended below :-
DeleteThe Queen of Aditya Chola-I (871 - 907 A.D), "Kaduvetti Thiribuvana Madevi Vayiriyakkan", who hails from "Kadava Dynasty" (Pallava Dynasty) belongs to our "Vanniya Kula Kshatriyar / Agni Kula Kshatriyar" community. The Queens of Kulottunga Chola-I (1070 - 1120 A.D), "Kadava Mahdevi" and "Thiyagavalli", who also hails from the "Kadava Dynasty" (Pallava Dynasty) belongs to our "Vanniya Kula Kshatriyar / Agni Kula Kshatriyar" community. The "Kadava Kopperunjinga Pallava" (1211 - 1246 A.D) married the daughter of "Kulottunga Chola-III (1178 - 1218 A.D).
"Kizhanadigal", the daughter of "Vilupparaiyar Chieftains" and the Queen of Uttama Chola (973 - 985 A.D)belongs to our "Vanniya Kula Kshatriyar / Agni Kula Kshatriyar" community. The "Vilupparaiyar Chieftains" are "Vanniyas by caste". The present "Viluppuram District" got the name from the "Vanniyar Chieftains Vilupparaiyar", who ruled that area during imperial cholas times. "விழுப்புண் பெற்ற அரையர்கள் (விழுப்பரையர்கள்)". The inscription evidences for the same :-
"This epigraph contains two portions, one in Sanskrit and the other in Tamil. The former engraved in Grantha characters records that Kotacholaka Vimana originally built of brick was now rebuilt of stone by Sendan (Jayantan) Poyakapati. The Tamil portion which is incomplete while recording the same fact describes him as Kumari Sendan alias Jayangondasola Vilupparaiya Nadalvan, a kudippalli of Poypakkam in Panaiyur-nadu in Rajendrasola-valanadu". (S.I.I. Vol-XVII, No.227), (Tiruvakkarai, Viluppuram District, Varadaraja Perumal shrine in the Chandramaulisvara temple), (Adhirajendra Chola, 1068-69 A.D).
"This seems to record some gift made by Kudippalli Sendan Nagan alias Rajendrasola Viluppadirasan of Poygaipakkam, in Panaiyur-nadu in Rajendrasola-valanadu for the merit of his younger brother Sendan Karanai alias Kidarattaraiyan" (S.I.I. Vol-XVII, No.223), (Tiruvakkarai, Viluppuram District, Varadaraja Perumal shrine in the Chandramaulisvara temple), (Kulottunga Chola-I, 1096-97 A.D).
Note : No other communities from Southern India (including Rajus Community) can't show such (authentic evidence) Marriage relationship with the Imperial Cholas.
Cholas and Sambuvarayas (Vanniyas / Agni-Kulas) are "Kshatriyas" :-
DeleteThe "Imperial Cholas" and "Sambuvarayas" are "Kshatriyas" . The following chola period inscription says very clearly without any doubt :-
The war held between Pandya Kulasekhara and the Sri Lankan King, in which Chola helped Pandiya by sending their army. Edirili Chola Sambuvaraya, the Commander-in-Chief for Chola army victorious over Ceylon army.
Edirili Chola Sambuvaraya, says in the inscription of Rajathiraja Chola-II, 1171 A.D :-
"சோழராஜ்யத்துக்கு ராஜாவாநார் அவர்கள் பரிபாலிப்பது எங்கள் வம்சத்து தர்ம்மம் பரிபாலிப்பது" (Chola king doing the duties of our Dharma).
(S.I.I. Vol-VI, No.456), (Line-47&48, page-98), (Kanchipuram, Tiruvalisvara temple inscription).
(Select Inscriptions of Tamil Nadu, Serial No : 117 : 7), (Department of Archaeology, Govt of Tamil Nadu).
The term "Engal Vamsathu" (எங்கள் வம்சத்து) refers to "Kshatriya Vamsam". Therefore, Vanniyas are "Kshatriyas". Their clans "Surutiman" and "Nattaman", who came from "Agni Kundam" (Yaga Kundam) also "Kshatriyas". This is the real history.

DeleteThe Pichavaram cholas are the descendants of imperial cholas. The Pichavaram Zamindars crowned as a Chola Kings by the "Dikshidhars" in the world class Chidambaram Natarajar temple. In the Indian history, no Zamindar/Poligars performed with crowning ceremony except few Royal Families. Thillai Natarajar is the family deity God (Kuladeivam) of imperial cholas and that is why the, Thillai Dikshidars” crown to the Pichavaram cholas. It is the custom/rituals to crown in the Nataraja temple by chola clans. From the times of later cholas, the “Thillai Bramins” used to crown to the chola clans. Others (which includes other kings) are not entitled for the same rights. The “Thirumanikuzhi” inscription of Kulotunga Chola-II states that, he crowned in “Thilla temple. The “Thirugokarnam” inscription of Kulotunga Chola-I states, that the “Thillai Bramins” crown to chola kings. The noted poet of 12th century A.D, the “Sekkilar” clearly specify in the “Kuttuvanayanar episode” that, the “Thillai Bramins” refused to crown to non-chola king and said “We crown only to Chola’s clan and not to any other" (தில்லை வாழந் தணர்தம்மை வேண்ட அவரும் செம்பியர்தம் தொல்லை நீடுங் குலமுதலோர்க் கன்றிச் சூட்டோம் முடி).
ReplyDeleteThe family deity God (Kuladeivam) of imperial Cholas is Chidambaram Natarajar. That is why the Chola King Parantaka made a roof with five tons of pure Gold. Crowning ceremony performed in Nataraja temple to the Pichavaram Zamindars, who supercedes the heiarchy as next Chola king. Those days the Kings were considered as equivalent to God and the Pattabishekam had been conducted in the sanctum sanctorum of Nataraja temple (i.e) Panchachara Padi. The Chief Priest used to wash the head of the king in Valampuri Sangu (a unique conch), which is used for God to perform abishekam. Then the priest perform mantram and then anoint with pattam in the forehead of the king in "Palm Leaf with Mantras" and garland with "Aathi Malai", the chola clans family garland. After pattabishekam, the crowning ceremony held at 1000 pillar mandapam, which is called as "Raja Sabai." The Chief Priest (they called as Thillai Dikshidhars) anoint the Crown to the Chola King at the appropriate time with the slogans, that the Chola King to long live and the country to flourish. After that, they handover the victorious Sword and their "Tiger Flag." The poets praise the Kings about the valours and prides. This custom and rituals clearly shows that the Pichavaram Zamindars are the descendants of imperial Cholas family and are very Pure Kshatriyas. It is the custom of Chola Kings to crown in Chidambaram Nataraja Temple (Cholas family deity god) and that too, the Thillai Dikshidhars are only eligible to crown the Chola Kings and no other kings are not eligible for the same rights is clearly explained in "Kutruvanayanar episode" by the great poet "Sekhizhar" of 12th century A.D.

Names of the Pichavaram Zamindars, the imperial Cholas descendants, Crowned in Chidambaram Nataraja Temple in the 20th century A.D :-
ReplyDelete(a) Maha Raja Raja Sri Samidurai Surappa Chola (Crowned in 1908 A.D).
(b) Maha Raja Raja Sri Thillai Kannu Surappa Chola (Crowned in 1911 A.D)
(c) Maha Raja Raja Sri Andiyappa Surappa Chola (Crowned in 1943 A.D)
(d) Maha Raja Raja Sri Chidambaranatha Surappa Chola (Crowned in 1978 A.D).
His elder son yet to crown, since they are now in low economic conditions. The big Chidambaram Natarajar temple belongs to the property of Pichavaram Zamindars. The temple priest daily used to close the temple and handover the key to the Palace of Pichavaram (nine km from Chidambaram town), through palanquin bearers. In the early morning King used to handover the key to temple priest through palanquin bearers. If any problem arose among the temple priest, the Pichavaram King used to come and solve the problem by sitting in "perambalam". The "Chola Mandagapadi" still conducted by the Pichavaram Chola King twice in a year at the sanctum Sanctorum in the dais of "Surya Chandra Mandapam". This practice existing from the times of the great Kulotunga Chola-1. The Pichavaram Royal Family conducts the marriage alliance at par with the Vanniya Kula Kshatriyas (Agni Kula Kshatriyar) Royal Families such as "Udaiyar Palayam Zamindars", "Ariyalur Zamindars", "Mugasaparur Poligars" (Virudachalam Area. They are the descendants of "Kadavas"), "Vadakal Poligars" (Sirkali), "Mayavaram Poligars", "Kadalangudi Poligars" (near Kumbakonam) ect.
The Great "Velirs" (N. Murali Naicker)
ReplyDelete=============================
The vel refers to the "Velvi" (Yagam), (i.e) "Sacrificial Fire", "Agni-Kunda", "Yaga-Kunda", "Anala-Kunda". Therefore, the velirs (Kshatriyas) were referred in the history that, they were brought out from the "Fire-Pit" (Yaga-Kunda) to rule the earth and establish Dharmam. This theory is to be taken for the origin of Kshatriyas and also a theory that, Kshatriyas came from the shoulders of Lord Brahma.
In the "Purananuru" (Hymn-201), the sangam age poet "Kabilar" clearly says that, the velirs (Kshatriyas) were brought out from the "Fire-Pit" of sage "Vadapal Thava Muni", whom has been identified as "Sambu Maha Muni" by the eminent scholar U.V Saminatha Iyer with the help of Tamil Literatures such as "Vishwapurana Saram" and the "Theiviga Ula" of Irrattai Pulavar. The "Irrattai Pulavar", who had contributed "Theiviga Ula" , "Ekkabaranathar Ula" etc. were patronised by the "Sambuvarayar Kings". The "Sambuvarayar Kings", who hails from the velir clans had ruled "Oyma Nadu" in the sangam age and also during the early imperial cholas period as Chieftains/Feudatories.
The "Sambuvarayar Kings" clearly mentioned in the imperial cholas inscriptions that. they were from the line of "Sambu-Kulam", which means, they came from the "Fire-Pit" of sage "Sambu Maha Muni". The 12th century poet, Kambar in one of his great work "Silai Ezhupathu" clearly says about the "Vanniyas" (Agni Kulas) came from the "Fire-Pit" of sage "Sambu Maha Muni" and ruled the earth to establish Dharma. Vanniya Puranam and several copper plates pertaining to "Vanniya history" says the similar origin. Obviously, "Vanniyas" are from the line of "Agni" is the reality. In Sanskrit "Vanni" means "Fire". Both are synonyms.
In the "Purananuru" (hymns-201&202), the sangam age poet "Kabilar" (Belongs to Bramin community) says that, the velir king (Kshatriya) "Irungovel" was the 49th generation king and their ancestors were the rulers of "Dwaraka". The poet "Kabilar" also describes velir "Irungovel" as "Pulikadi Mall" (A valour hero, who killed a Tiger). The eminent scholars in the opinion that, Irungovel belongs to "Hoysala Clan", since, the velir king Irungovel described as "Pulikadi Mall" by sangam age poet "Kabilar".
(Cont'd.......)
The "Hoysala Dynasty" founder "Sala" is said to be "Killed a Tiger" in many "Kannada Inscription". Even many ikons of "Sala killing a tiger" have been placed in the Hoysala temples as their symbol. The "Hoysala" rulers hails from "Yadu-Kulam" (from the line of Moon, Lunar Race, Yadava, Kshatriya). They named their capital (Halibedu) as "Dwaraka", which resembles their ancestors ancient capital "Dwaraka", which was immersed in to the sea nearby the provinces of the present Gujarat. The ancient Dwaraka rulers hails from the line of "Yadu-Kulam" (Yadavas, Kshatriyas) and their clans had spread throughout India such as "Chalukyas", "Kalachuris", "Hoysalas", "Rashtrakutas", "Vilandai Vel", "Kodumbalur Irukkuvel" etc. The "Kulottunga Chola-I", referred in the 12th century "Kulottunga Cholan Ula" as he belongs to the clan of "Duvarapathi Velir" (முகில்வண்ணன் பொன்துவரை இந்து மரபில்) and also "Thee Kon" (Fire Race King), (தீக்கோன் நிகழ்நிலா அன்று நிருப குல துங்கன்). The noted poet "Kambar" of 12th century A.D. in his work "Silai Ezhupathu" also says, the Kulottunga Chola-I as "Vanni Kulottungar" (கலையா வன்னி குலோத்துங்கர்) and his son as "Agni Kulatharasar Vikramar" (அக்கினி குலத்தரச விக்ரமர் ).
ReplyDeleteThe "Hoysalas" mother tongue is "Kannadiga" (The old Kannada inscriptions is almost in the form of Tamil script only). The "Kodumbalur Irukkuvel" also refer them as "Irungolan", which is evident from the name "Parantaka Irungolan", one of the Chieftains of imperial cholas. According to the Muvarkoil Inscription, Bhuti Vikrama Kesari built Kodumbalur temple with three shrines. A fragmentary "Kannada Record" found at Kodumbalur mentions "Vikramakesarisvara" (A.R.E. No.140 of 1907) thus confirming the Muvarkoil Sanskrit record which also says that they are from "Yadu Vamsa" and "Yadava". The Sanskrit record also mentions one of the Kodumbalur Irukkuvel kings name as "Aditya Varma", which denotes them as "Kshatriyas" (Varma).
Irungovel was one of the Velir Chiefs of the sangam age, who ruled from his capital city "Pidavur" was defeated by Karikala Chola. His capital city "Pidavur" has been identified with the modern "Pudaiyur" in Kattumannar Kudi Taluk. Imperial cholas inscriptions refers a territory called "Irungolappadi", which comprising parts of Udaiyarpalayam, Kattumannarkudi, Tittakudi, Virudachalam taluks on both the banks of the vellar river (The river vellar obtained its name from the Velir as "Vel Aar" (வேலாறு). The "Irungolappadi" was ruled by the "Irungolar Chieftains" during imperial cholas times. The "Vilandai Kuttram" was one of the nadu which existed in the "Irungolappadi Region" was ruled by "Vilandai Vel", a chief of Vilandai in the sangam period.
(Cont'd.......)
During the period of Vikrama Chola in the year 1130 A.D, a Velir Chieftain named "Palli Kuttan Madurantakan alias Irungola Raman" referred in the Pennadam inscription (A.R.E. No.259 of 1928-29, Tittakudi Taluk). He belongs to "Vanniya Caste". The "Erumbur" (situated on the northern bank of river Vellar) inscription mentions a Velir Chieftain named "Irungolan Gunavan Aparajitan" as a feudatory to Parantaka Chola-I. The Kattumannar Kudi taluk, Srimushnam inscription refers a Velir Chieftain named "Irungolar Kon alias Narayanan Pugalaippavar Kandan" during the period of Sundara Chola. In Virudhachalam, during the period of Uttama Chola, a Velir Chieftain named "Irungolar Naranan Pirutivipatiyar" had ruled as feudatory to imperial cholas. Similarly during the period of Raja Raja Chola-I, the Velir Chieftains named "Irungolar Prithivipathi Amani Mallar" and "Irungolarkkonar Amani Mallan Sundara Cholar" were referred in the Virudhachalam inscriptions. The "Irungolar Chieftains" had the close matrimonial relationship with imperial cholas.
ReplyDeleteThe Tittakudi taluk, Vasistapuram inscription of Kulottunga Chola-III, mentions "Kulothunga Choliyar, daughter of Navalur Irungolar and wife of Tundarayan Tiruchchirrambalamudaiyar of Tenur". A line of Chieftains, who ruled during the imperial cholas period were called as "Tundarayar". Around 20 inscriptions mentioned about them, they are "Palli" (Vanniya) by caste. Tittakudi taluk, Tiruvattaturai inscription pertaining to Virarajendra Chola (1067 A.D) mentions, a Chieftain named "Palli Kuttan Pakkan alias Jayankonda Chola Tundanattalvan". The Virudhachalam inscription of Rajadhiraja Chola-I (1050 A.D) mentions a Chieftain named "Visayapurathu Palli Amani Mallan Palli Kondan alias Maravattumalai". The "Irungolar" and "Tundarayar" Chieftains had matrimonial relationship with each other.
The great "Surutiman Community", who were also called "Irungolar" during the period of imperial cholas. A record of 1218 A.D of Kulothunga Chola-III in Uttattur mentions that, the "Surutimans" were created from the "Fire-Pit" (Yaga-Kundam) by the sage Kasyapa to wage war against the Asuras. Obviously, the great "Surutiman Community" is "Kshatriya Community". They served as Chieftains during imperial cholas period. The "Irungolar Chieftain" named "Surutiman Nayan Soran alias Irungolan referred in the Uttattur inscription of Raja Raja Chola-III (1233 A.D). In the same uttattur during the period of Jata Varman Sundara Pandiyan (1308 A.D), the "Irungolar Chieftains" named "Nerkulam Kani Udaiya Surutiman Mattiyandan alias Soran Irungolan" and "Surutiman Devan Poril Mikaman alias Irungolan" were referred.
(Cont'd.......)
The great "Nattaman Community" were created from the "Fire-Pit" (Yaga-Kunda) of "Guha Munivar". The inscription record of 1227 A.D in valikandapuram mentions Nattamakkal as one among the castes of Idangai 98 kalanai and as the leaders of Chitrameli Periya Nadu (alias) Yadava Kula. This shows, the "Nattamans" were in possession of "Fertile Agricultural Nadus". The term "Yadava-Kula" refers them as "Kshatriyas". The "Vettavalam Chieftains (Vanadiraya Pandariyar)" belongs to "Nattaman Udaiyar Community". The later Malayaman Chieftains refer them as "Bargava Gotra" and suffixed their names with "Varman" which shows them as "Kshatriyas". The later Malayaman Chieftains referred in more than 36 inscriptions as "Vanniyan", "Vanniya Nayan", "Vanniyanar", "Yadava Viman", "Palli Cheriyadi Nambi Kovalaperaraiyan" (Bramins living areas were also called as Cheris during chola period). The inscription evidences says that, the "Kadavarayas" (Vanniyas) had the matrimonial relationship with "Malayamans" proves both belongs to "Vanniyas" (The Fire Race). The "Udaiyar Palayam" Chieftains refer them as "Bargava Gotram in Ganganooja Family that took its origin from Vanniya Kulam (the family of the Gof of Fire)". The "Siriya Krishnapuram" copper plate published by my guru "Thiru. Natana Kasinathan Sir", clearly says that, "Vanniyas, Surutiman and Nattaman" are from the same clan, they are "Velirs" (Kshatriyas).
ReplyDeleteThe above mentioned points clearly shows, the "Vanniyas", "Surutiman" and "Nattaman" (Agni Race) are "Kshatriyas". They all were brought out from the "Fire-Pit" (Yaka-Kunda) to rule the earth and to establish Dharmam.
The "Vanni" (or) "Agni" means "Fire". The kings (Kshatriyas) created from the "Fire Pit" (Yaga Kunda) to rule this earth and to establish "Dharmam".
ReplyDeleteIn this connection, I hereby submit the "Mount Abu Vimala Temple Inscription of 1378 A.D", which says, the "Kings" generated from the "Fire-Pit" :-
"The first part begins with the well-known story how on the mountain Arbuda there sprang from the fire-pit (anala-kunda, agni-kunda) of the sage vasishtha the hero Paramara. In his lineage appeared the hero Kanhada Deva ; and in his family there was a chief named Dhandhu (Dhandhu Raja), who was Lord of the town of Chandravati and who, averse from rendering homage to the Chaulukya King Bhima Deva" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-IX, No.18, page-151).
The Rajapura plates of Madhurantaka Deva, 1065 A.D. says, there are 36 "Agni Kulas" :-
"The grant was made by the King Madhurantaka Deva, who belonged to the Chhindaka family of the Naga (Cobta) race" (page-178).
"Madhurantaka Deva belonged to the Chhindaka family, one of the 36 Agnikulas mentioned by Chand Bardai, the court poet of Prithviraja" (page-178). (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-IX No.23).
The "Nagavamsi Inscriptions" reveals, that they are "Kshatriyas" and they belongs to "Kasyapa Gotra" and their symbol is "Tiger with a calf" :
"The dynasty claims to belong to the Nagavamsa and the Kasyapa gotra, to have a tiger with a calf as their crest and to be the lords of Bhogavati the best of the cities" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-IX, No.19, page-161), (Narayanpal stone inscription of queen Gunda-Mahadevi, the mother of Somesvara Deva).
"In front of this temple, I found a slab with a ancient sanskrit and Telugu inscription on both sides ; the temple of Mahadeva where the slab was found was built by a Raja Somesvara Deva, a Nagavamsi Kshatriya, in the year 1130 A.D." (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-IX, No.19, page-162), (Barsur inscription of Ganga-Mahadevi wife of Somesvara Deva).
From the above evidence, it is established that, Agni kula Kshatriyas generated from the "Yaka-kunda" to rule this earth. "Vanniya Kula Kshatriyas" are called as "Agni Kula Kshatriyas" in Andhra Pradesh. "Vanniya" is the synonym of "Agni".

In the sangam literature "Purananuru" (hymns-201) the poet "Kabilar" says that, the "Irungovel" (Pulikadimal) came from the "Fire-pit" (Agni-kunda) of the sage "Vadapal Munivan" to rule "Dwaraka". The king "Irungovel" hails from the "Velir clan" and the scholars thinks that, "Irungovel" descendants were "Hoysala kings".
ReplyDelete"நியே, வடபான் முனிவன் தடவினுட் டோன்றிச்" (புறம்-201), (Purananuru Age - 2nd century B.C.)
The eminent scholars Dr. U.V. Swaminatha Iyer and Avvai Duraiswamy Pillai, considers the "Vadapal Munivan"
with "Sambu Maha-munivar" with the help of evidences such as "Vishwapurana-Saram" and "Deiviga-Ula of Irrattai Pulavar". The "Vishwapurana-Saram" (15th poem) says the following :-
"சம்புமா முனிவன் வேள்வி தழல் தருமரபில் வந்தோன்"
In the Thirumoolar's Thirumanthiram, the sage "Vadapal Thavamuni" is mentioned that, he created the "Fire-pit" :
"அங்கி உதயம் வளர்க்கும் அகத்தியன்
அங்கி உதயஞ்செய் மேல்பா லவனொடும்
அங்கி உதயஞ்செய் வடபால் தவமுனி
எங்கும் வளங்கொள் இலங்கொளி தானே" (திருமூலர் திருமந்திரம் - 338)
The "Vanniya Puranam", "Silai Ezhupathu" clearly says that, Vanniyar came from the Fire-pit of sage "Sambu Maha Munivar" to rule the earth and to establish "Dharmam". The "Sambuvarayar Chieftains" referred them in the inscriptions/Ekkambaranathar Ula, as "Sambu-Kula Chakravarthy" and the "Pannattar" (Vanniyas) referred them in inscription as "Sambuvar-Kulapathi Pannattar".
The great Hoysala king "Vira Vallala Deva-III" referred as "Vanni Kulathinil Varum Manna" (வன்னி குலத்தினில் வரு மன்னா) and "Anal Kulathon" (அனல் குலத்தோன்) in the the authentic work "Arunachala Puranam" of 14th century A.D. The Velir "Irungovel" (Pulikadimal) of Sangam Age is considered as the ancestors of "Hoysalas".

The great "Hoysalas" referred them as :-
ReplyDelete"பிருதிவல்லபன் மகாராசாதிராச பரமெஸ்வர
துவாராபதி புரவராதீஸ்வர யாதவகுலாம்"
(S.I.I. Vol-VI, No.35), (Bosala Vira Ramanatha Devar, Jeyangondanatha temple, Mannargudi, Tanjore).
"Hoysala race, sprung from Yadu" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, page-72).
"In the lineage of Yadu (the legendary) king sala, sasakapura acquired the named Hoysala" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, Page-73).
Therefore, the great "Hoysala Kings" (Kshatriyas) emerged from the line of "Yadu", "Yadava". "Vanni Kula" (Agni Kula).
The great "Hoysalas Kings" descedants are "Vijayanagara Kings" (Sangama, Chaluva, Tuluva) :-
"In the Yadu's race, Samgama ; his sons Harihara and Bukka" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, Page-80).
"Vijaya Nagara lamp pillar inscription of the time of Harihara-II (the son of Bukka-I, of the Yadava race)." (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, Page-80).
"In the race of the Yadavas, Samgama ; his son Vira-Bhukka or Bhukka (Bukka-I) married Gauri ; their son Harihara (II)." (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-III, Page-120), (Nallur Plates of Vira Pratapa Harihara (Harihara-II).
The "Devula Palli Plates of Immadi-Nrisimha" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, Page-78) states that :-
"It would appear also that Nrisimharaya was probably related to the kings of the first dynasty of karnata empire, since both claimed to belong to the Yadava line of the lunar race of Kshatriyas. Saluva Nrisimharaya, father of Immadi-Nrisimha, the donor of the present grant, and the second by Nrisimharaya's general 'Narsenaque' or 'Narasimha', the founder of the Tuluva dynasty".

The "Krishnapuram Plates of Sadasivaraya" (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-IX, No.52, page-340) states that :-
ReplyDelete(Verse-1) : Invokes Sambhu
(Verse-2) : The boar incarnation of Vishnu
(Verse-4&5) : Trace the geneology of the family from the Moon
(Verse-6&7) : In his (i.e. Turvasu's) line was born the husband of Devaki. King Timma, as famous among the Tuluvas and krishna was among the Yadus.
(Verse-28&30) : King Sadasivaraya, who was like the santana tree on the hill of devas, was duly installed on the throne that was the jewel of the prosperous town, Sri-Vidyanagari, by king Rama, his sister's husband, the protector of the goddess sri of the great kingdom of Karnata, who was an ornament to all Kshatriyas, who was endowed with valour, nobility and kindness and by the chief ministers.
"In the temple of simhachalam in the vizagapatnam district there is an inscription dated in the saka year 1350 (1428 A.D). It records that Telunguraya, son of Samburaya of Kannada-Desa". There is another inscription of Telungaraya, also dated in the saka year 1350 (1428 A.D), at Santaravuru in the Bapatla taluka of the Kistna District, in which the king is described as the Mahamandalesvara Misaraganda Kathari Saluva Telunguraya." (Epigraphia Indica, Vol-VII, No.8, page-76)
In the Thiruvannamalai, Aavur inscription, the king Rajanarayana Sambuvarayar-III mentioned that, the king Kampana Udaiyar as his "Maithunanar" (மைத்துனனார் ). Therefore, it is evident from the 1379 A.D. inscription that, Sambuvarayar Kings and Vijayanagar Kings (Sangama) were relatives. They are "Velirs" (Kshatriyas). (A.R.E. No.306 of 1919), (23rd year, 1379 A.D).
In the "Unjini Copper Plate" of 1463 A.D, says that, the "Saluva King Mallikarjuna Deva Maharayar" came from the "Fire-pit" (Yaka-kunda) of "Sambu Maha Muni". Even in the "Villiyanoor Copper Plate", the same king referred as "Raja Vanniyan".
"சம்புமா முனியார் யாகத்தில் அவதரித்தானவர்
அய்யன் சூரர் (திரு) புவனம் தெக்ஷனாதிபதிக்கு
விசையர் மகா வீரப்பிறதாபர் வன்னிய வேட கண்டர்
அக்கினிப் புரவி யுள்ளவர் மகா பிறாக்கிறம சாலியறானவர்" (Avanam - 19, Jul-2008, Page-104), (Mallikarjunarayar, 1463 A.D).
From the valid points above discussed, it is proved beyond doubt that, the "Vannia Kula Kshatriyas" (Agni Kula Kshatriyas) came from the "Fire-pit" to rule the earth. Since, Purananuru (song-201) also clearly says with out any doubt that the "Velir" (Kshatriyas) generated from the "Fire-pit". The sangam age "Purananuru" date back to 2nd century B.C (2200 years). The "Purananuru" (song-201) further says about the "Velir Irungovel" as 49th Generation. If you calculate a generation gap as 25 years then (49 x 25 = 1225) it works out to 1200 years (approx). Then the "Dwaraka Age" is (2200 + 1200 = 3400) is 3400 years (approx). Lets us take to 3000 years. Therefore, the existence of "Agni Kula Kshatriyas" (Vannia Kula Kshatriyas) in Southern India dates back to 10th century B.C.
The difference between "Yadavas" and "Idaiyars" (Shepherds)
ReplyDelete==============================================
The Yadavas means "Yadu Line" (Lunar race, the moon). The Yadavas are Kshatriyas (Velirs). The present "Idaiyar community" (Shepherds) in Tamil Nadu, who called themselves as "Yadavas" in very very later period, after the decline of all the major dynasties. In cholas/Pandiyas inscriptions they referred as "Idaiyar", "Konar" (Ko-means, the cow not the King), "Manradi". and "Nanda Gopar Vamsam" only. Even in their "Meikirthi inscription" during the pandiya period they never referred as "Yadavas". So, kindly don't confuse the "Velir Yadavas" with the present "Idaiyar community", who were called as "Yadavas" of their own in very very later period. The "Velirs" (Kshatriyas) are "Vanniyas", "Surutiman" and "Nattaman" only. However, the "Muttaraiyar community" having the possibilities to rule them as "Kshatriyas". The future research will reveal the facts. History is fact. Evidence is mandatory for proving the history.
Yadavs and Idaiyars are the Same line.Idaiyar have been using yadav to refer themselves from time immemorial. Idayar is the name given to Yadavas by the people around them ,not the yadavs.

DeleteHi, Just a small comment, you might have read a persons book in godavari who is bluffing to showoff his caste. Nope, In vedas sun and agni both are same. First Kshatriyas in the world are called Agnikula Kshatriyas. later they got split into Surya and Chandra Vansh. Please refer to only Vedic philosophy. Read the principles of manu if you want. You cannot follow a teachers book who has written it with his own idealogy just before few years. Every article will have a Vedic article code if what he says is true. We cannot make the history wrong.

Two major gothras of suryavamshis are Raghukul, Ravikul, Koushal(came from ramas son kush)- many khatris(ex kapoors) of Punjab belongs to kushal gothra, Kush is ramas son.
when all the suryavamshis are killed by bhagvan parusuram ji, Bramhans did yagna and created Kshatriyas for these Kshatriyas who are created , gothras are given as 4 rishis kashyapa, bharadwaj, etc. This is history. That's why many Kshatriyas who has these rishis gothras were not given more respect by brahmans.
All Kshatriyas are not killed.sahasrarjuna Kshatriyas are killed by parusurama.

This fellow belongs to "Kongu Vellala Gounder", which means they belongs to "Sudras". Today they are some how rich in economy. That is the reasons, they started "Self styling themselves as Kshatriyas and Rulers". Their culture has been written by "Edgar Thurston" very clearly. Kongu Region Inscriptions reveals them as "Vellala Paraiyars". Out of 63 Nayanmars, 13 Nayanmars belongs to "Sudra Vellalas" (Low caste people). For the past many decades, they involved in the word alteration/modification history such as "Kannada = Canada". They never ruled any country. In "Tamil Nadu" most of the people belongs to "Sudras". Only "Vanniyas", "Surutiman", Nattaman" and "Muttaraiyars" are "Kshatriyas".
DeleteAccording to "Sanadhana Dharma", the "Sudras" use to do service for the all three upper caste such as "Bramins", "Kshatriyas" and "Vaishiyas". The "Sudras" started dravidian movement to gain their self respect among the society. The "Sudra Vellalas" never participated in any war, being bonded laborer at the time of Cholas Perio, they had paid "Slavery Money" to "Vanniyas". The "Thamaraipakkam Inscriptions" reveals this fact.
The former Director of Tamil Nadu Archaeology and eminent scholar Dr. Nagasamy has made an article "Kalvettil Paraiyar" (in Tamil). It says, the relationship between "Kongu Vellalas and Paraiyars (Scheduled Caste)".
The former Director of Tamil Nadu Archaeology and eminent scholar Thiru. Natana. Kasinathan Iyya has written the book stating that, the "Pichavaram Zamindars", who belongs to "Vanniya Community" are the descendants of "Imperial Cholas". Even, the "Kongu Vellalar Community" scholar "Pulavar Rasu" agreed for the same. Since, he has made an article about "Pichavaram Cholas" in the year 1995 and revealed that, the "Pichavaram Cholas are the descendants of Imperial Cholas". The great Scholar "Sadasiva Pandarathar" has also stated the same.
The mighty "Kadavas" (Vanniyas) has matrimonial affairs with "Imperial Cholas". The "Kadavas" clearly says in the inscriptions that, they belongs to "Vanniyas". Their descendants are still living as "Kings of Mugasa Parur" in the Virudachalam area in Cuddalore District. Every one knows about "Kadavas" (Pallavas). Their earlier region of pallavas is "Pal Nadu region in Andhra Pradesh".
Due to non-availability of kings and rulers in "Kongu Vellala Gounders", these fellows started stealing the others pride especially "Vanniyas Pride".
Yes this fellow Murali Naicker (Naicker is a title stolen from telugu's) belong to shudh sudra and claiming as khystria if anyone with common sense and knowledge about tamil country will know who Gounders are, according to the four varna's Khystria = Kings, chieftains in this case we have many chieftains the list is so long and i do not want to fill pages, whereas this fellows caste is viewed and kept on par with depressed castes of tamilnadu, ask your friends in tamilnadu about palli caste and they could give a good picure about them, these people for uplifting their caste are writing fabricated history don’t trust this con masters

The Telugu Kshatriyas (Rajus) have Rishi Gothras,Rishi Pravaras and also Raja Pravaras ( which indicate/describe their Royal lineage).Rishi Pravara indicates to which Rishi ( Sage) disciples they have been.
Rishi Pravara indicates to which Rishi ( Sage) disciples they have been.
Raja Pravara indicates to which Royal Race or lineage they belong.
At Rajus' ceremonies the Brahmins(Purohits) and Bhatrajus/Bhattus/Bhattumurthys ( Bards / Minstrels ) recite their Rishi and Raja Pravaras.
Rajus have four Gothras ( Vashishta, Dhananjaya, Koundinya and Kashyapa). The Rayalaseema and Nellore district Rajus ( Kshatriyas) have four Gothras like Circar and Kalingandhra Rajus viz. Vashishta, Dhananjaya, Pashupathi and Kashyapa. The ' Pashupathi' Gothra which is seen among the Rayalaseema and Nellore Rajus could be synonym of Koundinya Gothra . 'Surname' plays important role in Telugus' culture. Surname and Gothra both are equally important. Because some surnames are common in all the castes and in some cases Gothras are also common.
But usually Gothra and Surname combination of a caste person need not be the same of other caste person.
" Those who claim themselves to be Kshatriyas are in fact known by local names, in the Punjab - the Khatris; in Bihar,U.P.,Rajashtna and madhya Pradesh - The Rajputs or the Thakurs; and in Andhra Pradesh the Rajus"

The modern day vanniyar were originally called Palli. Only in the 19th century the palli started calling themselves as vanniyar. Modern day vanniyars are slaves of Brahmins. Proof provided below.

Hindu Scholars say that Kshatriyas are supposed to have a Brahminical or Rishi / Rushi gothra.
DeleteAnd they also should have Rishi Pravara and Raja Pravara which is mentioned in all their ceremonies.
Another thing is Brahmins should be their priests since olden days.
You can see that there are many direct royal family descendants are poorer than may politicians and businessmen of their area in India.
Now the world is open to all to come up. Now a days many employers say that they are equal opportunity employers. Unlike in the past, in India now education is open to all.
In fact in this modern/ cyber time caste is not a factor at all. If some one says/claims that he or she is a Brahmin or Kshatriya or Vysya...... there is no special attention given to them. Special attention is given to one's knowledge, economy/financial strength, good occupation/job.
Hence one professing himself/herself of a higher/superior caste is meaningless, instead by getting higher education and fetching good income job or occupation he/she can attract social respect and get comforts in his/her life.

The community called palli changed their name to vanniyar only in the 19th century.
ReplyDeleteTraditionally vanniyars are agricultural laborers and wood-cutters. Vanniyars are under the shudra varna. proof is provided below. There is plenty of proof for pallis being laborers. officially the vanniyars are in the most backward category.

I belong to a family from Ichchapuram, AP. We are very tall people (unlike south Indians) and my father says we are gangavamshi Kshatriyas - related to Gajapati and Khallikote - gothram bhardwaj. The family uses the surname Deo. we had huge tracts of land in AP and Odisha and a small haveli in Ichchapuram. However the entire clan from the Srikakulam and surrounding areas was included into OBC by one the clan leaders. I would like to trace my roots. How do I go about doing this

Why then the wise people palli are still straying and struggling for daily live-hood ? please don't Joke and say pallavas using palli language hence called pallavas what a way to call kanada = canada, i think you dont know anything about pallavas so better not blabber they gave preference to Sanskrit since they believed and recorded that they hail from Bramha Khystria and Bharadwaja Gothra, are you talking about bravery and physical strength C:>, we all know what a brave people you all are, where were all this khystrias hiding during the freedom struggle? where is the bravery we have records even people belong to the deprived class in tamilnadu like rettaimalai srinivasan were part of the freedom struggle, kodikattha kumaran is a mudaliar and dhreen chinnamalai is kongu vellalar Chidamaram pillai is vellalar, subramaniya shiva and Vanjinathan are brhamins the legendary mardhu pandiyan brothers are Agamudayars, Velunachiyar is marravar, Veera pandiya kattaboman is telugu naicker, can you show one person from your group, you people are totally out of scene, so henceforth don't speak about bravery!, bravery is not about people come in a group to beat/attack someone, you people piss in your pants when you see a policeman, that's all your bravery and strength all about.

ReplyDeleteAy-velirs and Krishna[edit]
ReplyDeleteAnother important line of chieftains of Tamil Nadu during the sangam period with whom Krishna was intimately associated was the Ay-velirs. The cow-herds were known as Ayars in Tamil even as they were known as Ahirs and Abhiras in North India. Tradition says that the Ahirs in Pandya country came to Tamilakkam along with the ancestors of the Pandyas(Kalithogai, verse 104:4-6). Potiya mountain region was known as Ay-kudi.The capital of that region is also called Ay-kudi.
I
M.Srinivasa Iyengar points out that allowing the usual 25 years of each generation, the above kingdom must have been established about B.C. 1075 and this may be assumed as the probable date of the migration of Ay velirs to South India. There were many Velir chiefs in the Tamil country during sangam period. They had ‘Ay’ as a prefix or a suffix to their names, such as “Ay-andiran” and “vel-Ay”. The latter had his capital in Ay-kudi and ruled the Potiya region. Many Sangam poets has glorified his bravery and charitable qualities. Poets like Uraiyur Enicheri,Mudamosiyar,Turaiyur Odaikilar,Kuttuvan Kiranar, umattur Kilanmaganar, parankorranar, paranar and karikannanar have composed poems in praise of this king and his region. One of the Aykudi rulers was Ay-andiran.Once he defeated kongars and drove them to western side.
ReplyDeleteA
The Ay-Velir kings of later period also mention in their copper plate charters that they belonged to the Yadu-kula of Krishna The Ay dominion was situated between Kerala and Pandya Nadu and it comprised the parts of the present kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The Sangam literature portrays the Ay rulers as independent sovereigns in the region around Potiya hill. The early Ays hold special position among the Velir chieftains ruling in several parts of the Tamil country.
ReplyDeleteKonar or Idaiyar or Tamil Yadavar is a Chandravanshi Kshatriya caste from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a sub-division of the Yadava community. They are also known as Ayars,Idayar,Kone,Konar. Konars are distributed throughout the state of Tamil Nadu. They are one of the ancient Tamil castes.
ReplyDeleteThe Yadavas of Tamil Nadu were originally referred as ‘ARYAS’ in Tamil literature but locally called as ‘Idayans’. Even in the government records the community name was referred as ‘Idayans(Konar). Up to the Census 1921, the community name was noted as ‘Idayan’. The Tamil speaking Yadavas were referred as Idayans and the Telugu speaking Yadavas were referred as ‘Gollas’ and as Vaduga Aayars. The name of the community was notified as ‘Yadavas’ in government records as per the Government of Madras G.O.No.5240 Law (General) dt.13 December 1930. In the G. O. it was said that the term ‘Yadava’ shall in future be adopted in place of Golla, Idayan, Gola, Gopi or Goda in all official announcement. Accordingly in the Census 1931 the name of the community was noted as Yadava instead of Idayan. This is the last caste wise census enumerated.
According to Indian mythology, the Konar are descendants of the lord Kannan.

ReplyDeleteThe Ay-Velir kings of later period also mention in their copper plate charters that they belonged to the Yadu-kula of Krishna The Ay dominion was situated between Kerala and Pandya Nadu and it comprised the parts of the present kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The Sangam literature portrays the Ay rulers as independent sovereigns in the region around Potiya hill. The early Ays hold special position among the Velir chieftains ruling in several parts of the Tamil country.
ReplyDeleteM.Srinivasa Iyengar points out that allowing the usual 25 years of each generation, the above kingdom must have been established about B.C.

Yadava. — Yadava, meaning descendants of king
ReplyDeleteYadu, from whom Krishna was descended, has been
recorded as a synonym or title of Idaiyan, and a sub-
division of Golla and Koracha. There is a tradition
among the Idaiyans that Krishna was brought up by
their caste.

CASTES AND TRIBES OF SOUTHERN INDIA -VOL-7
EDGAR THURSTON
In Andhra and Telangana region Kshtriya communities are: Rajus (oc category) and Mudirajus, Yadavas, Agnikula Kshtriyas/Vanniyakula Kshtriyas, Arya Kshtriyas and Thogata kshtriya castes comes under bc category due to their financial status. Mudirajus & Vanniyars are taking fishing profession due to lack of employment opportunities, however they are not actually fishermen. In Telangana and Andhra region most of Mudirajas having gotras Kashyapa and Bharadwaja. Mudirajus and Yadavas claim decedents from Yayati-yadu-puru-pandavas belongs to Chandra or soma vamsa kshtriyas. Most of Mudirajus are also having pandavula or pancha pandavula gotras. Mudirajus of Telangana region claims Kakatiyas are belongs to their caste. Mudirajus of Tamilnadu region claims Surya Vamsha kshtriyas belongs to Kalabras/Cholas/Pallavas origion.
ReplyDeleteKingdom of Travancore, Mysore kingdom. Chola/ chera and pandya, Pallava, Satavahanas, Hoisala, Haihayas history, epic mahabharatha, epic Ramayana claims they are decedents from Yayati from Lunar race and Sage Kashyapa from Solar race Kshtriyas. Therefore all Kshtriya castes related to each other and related to Kashyapa and Yayati. Some of them are retained their properties, most of them are lost their glory and entire properties, became poor due to several foreign invaders British, Muslim rules and internal wars between the kings. They always used to involve in the wars. They never lived happy life like a normal people. All kshtriyas ruled proudly almost whole India and some parts of surrounding countries like a Indonesia, Sreelanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Burma, Thailand. Malaysia. They lost every thing when they lost their kingdom. As long as they ruled as a kings they lived very proudly and looked after their people very well. No one carried bad name in their history. This was Kshtriyas proud life history. No other castes lived like them. They are not money minded people like other castes in India. They are now in the process of establishing their life in to the track and seeking Government reservations. Some Shudra castes who were very rich, they believe every thing is related to money, who ever has money they thing they are Kshtriyas. This is not true.
ReplyDeleteMy surname is Karri,my gotra is raghukula gotra,in andhra we are Bc-A do we belong to suryavamsham? Are we Kshatriya's?
ReplyDeleteHi,
Deleteyou belong to Suryavamsh as your gotra name itself is Raghu Kul. Raghu Maharaj(father of dasaradha or grand father of bhagvan Ram) is the king who got name for whole suryavamsam. So ravikul gothra is renamed after his name. Ravikul(Ravi means Sun in Sanskrit) and raghukul , koshal(Rams Son Kush), kashyap and vashista are some of the gothras of suryamamshis.
By the way, how can you be BC, here in Haryana, Dilli and Punjab Agnikula Kshatriyas are one of the most powerful community under OC.

Nijaniki "Dharinikota" Surname Ma Arya KShatriyas lo Undi Kani varidi "Dhatthatreya" Gotram. Dinni maku vivarinchagalara?
DeleteAmaravati was part of 'Dharanikota' kingdom. It was first ruled by Satavahanas and also was ruled by 'Kota Kings / Kota Chiefs' who were Rajus ( Telugu Kshatriyas ) of Dhanunjaya Gothra. According to Wikipedia the country on the southern bank of Krishna river was ruled by these Dhanunja gotra kings as a defecto independent power for over 150 years beginning of the 12th century to the last quarter of the 13th century .
ReplyDeleteKota Chiefs had marital relations with Kakatiya kings.
Kota Hariseema Krishna was a Popular King among Kota Kings. Other kings were Bhima Raju, Keta Raju, Rudraraju, Dantuluri Gannabupaludu. Telugu poet Srinadhudu dedicated his literary work " Dhananjaya Vijayamu' to the King Dantuluri Gannabhupaludu. It was also seen that Telugu poet Mangalagiri Ananda Kavi dedicated his literary work " Vijayananda Vilasamu" to Datla Venkatrama Nrupudu ( Datla venkatrama Raju) of Kota lineage. Present Rajus / Dhananjaya Gotra Rajus of surnames Dantuluri ( Tuni Zamindars of this surname), Nallaparaju Zamindars, Datla, Dandu, Rudraraju, Bhupatiraju, Penmetsa and other surnames of Dhananjaya gotra Rajus are descendants of this dynasty.
