గోత్రం తెలియనప్పుడు ఏమి చేయాలి?

If you don’t know your gotra, tradition is quite accommodating—there’s no bar to worship.

Here are the accepted approaches:

• Use “Kashyapa Gotra”: In many traditions, Kashyapa is regarded as a universal lineage reference. Priests often assign this by default.

• Say “Gotra-unknown” (అజ్ఞాత గోత్రం / Ajñāta Gotra) during sankalpa—this is fully valid.

• Follow family custom: Sometimes elders may recall it; if later discovered, you can adopt it.

• Proceed without it: Bhakti (intent) matters more than formal identifiers.

In practice, no ritual becomes invalid just because the gotra is unknown.
