Hindu marriage and its inner meaning:

What is marriage?
its an auspicious and sacred  agreement between man and woman to contribute and share equally the wealth, wisdom, food&shelter, joys, sorrows, responsibilities, culminating in to all round welfare and happiness of total family.
In all household matters she shall lead, since she is more experienced in this sphere. In professional  or vocational fields, the man shall lead because he is more experienced. When both consult each other in matters pertaining to the home and outside and work in unison, they establish successful family together.
But,at present times, both are equally  capable to do all type of works. the gender disparity faded almost to a thin line except in remote pockets of country and the culture of unisex prevails over in all spheres of life. So, traditional values, regulations became futile  for the present generation.
personality clashes ,difference of opinions&tastes, varied life styles, economical equality - all these factors culminating into soured relationship. with severe dissatisfaction and un- compromising attitude , number of couples opting for divorces.
nowadays, majority feels Marriage  is just a mirage.
why it so happened ?
because, the relationship is not cultivated, nurtured or nourished  properly.
we all know, any relationship needs- concern, care, sincerity, adjustment, compromise, understanding, loyalty.
if any of these missed ,that relationship whittled down and withered in no time.
weather our marriage system be applicable to present times? because it has been structured and coded when women are grossly dependent on men and treated not as an human being but as an  asset  as like cattles.
this is a wrong notion spreaded non chalantly  by foreign authors. women in vedic period ( 3000 B.C.) assigned a high place in society. They shared an equal standing with their men folk and enjoyed a kind of liberty that actually had societal sanctions.

Indian society can be divided roughly as pure dharmic age (3000 B.C. to 1000 B.C.) and diluted dharmic period ( from 1000B.C. to 500 A.D.) and medieval or dark ages (500A.D . to 1900 A.D.).
In dharmic age women are seen as godess. after that gradual declining of status was started  and reach lowest nadir in dark ages.
why hindu marriage is more sacred and spiritual event, more than a social relationship?
here, marriage is  not only a social welfare event but its a very important  initiating ritual/ ceremony not only  between man and woman but it address larger common goodness of the society.
hindu marriage is, entwining the spirits&souls of both genders mainly aimed for the smooth and virtous journey of souls towards liberation .
Hindu marriage gives  importance to welfare of the family, society and the universe.
that's why the partners are more responsible to keep and maintain the auspicious marriage knot without heeding to personal clashes and other obstacles.
